Mark Szymkowiak is Vice President at Workplace Learning System, focusing on EnPro Industries global EHS program. Mark joined EnPro Industries in 2015 as the EHS Manager for Technetics, bringing his knowledge and experience managing Environmental, Health and Safety within a 14,000 employee corporation to an EnPro Industries business division. Mark began his career as an EHS engineer developing programs, training and implementation of an EHS management system within the largest business division of Harris Corporation in 1992.
Mark held a variety of positons within the EHS organization at Harris Corporation, progressively adding responsibility and experience in the area of EHS. These responsibilities included Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), environmental permitting and waste management, electrical safety, powered industrial trucks, lab safety, emergency response, Department of Transportation management, etc. Mark also supported the development of safety programs in support of FAA, US military and other government agency contracts.
Before joining Technetics, Mark was Corporate EHS Manager with responsibility for overall EHS performance within Harris Corporation. In this role he was responsible for managing the corporation environmental reserves and remediation sites, internal EHS audit program, EHS integration during the merger and acquisition process, establishment of EHS governance, development of safety culture and implementation of EHS management applications which provide real time metric and trend analysis.
Mark holds a B.S. in Industrial Safety from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and M.S. in Environmental Management and Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer, holds the CSP Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and a CHMM Certification from the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management.
